All hail the Menstrual Cup!
Time and time again Katie has spoken about how the menstrual cup has saved her front bum on many occasions. Jaunting around Latin America, our eyes were open to the fact that tampons were not only expensive and such a luxury but detrimental to the environment. Each month we would wander from market to supermarket to pharmacy in search of tampons which became an expensive burden and such a chore.
So in swoops the Organi Cup company, a wonderful Denmark brand who were the only company to break their back to help Katie and her new best friend bond. The guys at Organi Cup went above and beyond in their ways to help deliver the cup to a post office in Chile, where it got lost. And then to Brazil, where it never showed. And finally, back to Ireland where Katie met the new love of her life. And so began the menstrual cup journey, a successful one so far!
Since being introduced, Katie has never looked back, has saved a fortune not buying tampons and pads AND, yet again, has made mother nature smile since we have reduced our waste, plastic use and need to buy tampons and pads. Hurray!! Feel free to contact Katie and ask any questions about the Organi Cup, a brand that we have tried and tested and absolutely adore! Katie even ordered a second cup meaning she never has to worry about a tampon for the next 20 years!!!
How does it work?
First fold and insert. Then enjoy ~12 hours of leak-free super-freedom. Empty, rinse and repeat. Simple.
Factors to consider when choosing the right cup size:
With that said, it doesn’t mean that one who has given birth vaginally can’t use a Size A and that a young user, who hasn’t given birth vaginally, with a heavier flow can’t use a Size B. We do offer a size guarantee, if the size against expectation should be wrong.
In fact, most people can use either size OrganiCup and our guideline is not bullet proof so there are a couple of other factors, you might want to consider when you’re choosing the menstrual cup size for you.
Regular or heavy flow
The OrganiCup can be used for up to 12 hours at the time – also during night – depending on your flow.
We recommend that you empty your menstrual cup more frequently in the beginning while you’re getting to know the cup and your flow.
If you have a light or regular flow, we recommend the Size A or Size Mini for teens or those who need a smaller size.
However, if you have a heavier flow you might want to consider going with the Size B, which has a bigger capacity.
Some OrganiCup users like to have both cup sizes, as their flow is heavier in the beginning of their menstrual cycle and therefore prefer the Size B and then switch to the Size A in the end of their cycle where their flow is lighter.
First time cup users
We recommend the Size Mini or Size A for teens and young cup users. You can actually start using a menstrual cup as soon as you get your period.
Although, there is no age limit; it does however require that you are comfortable with your body and period. Read more about that here.
For the mums, we generally recommend going with a Size B as per the above, however, have you delivered your child/children by C-section, we recommend going with an OrganiCup Size A.
